Personal Impacts of Globalization

The affects of globalization are all around us. Sometimes it is hard to realize the enormity of the globalized world because it has become a part of our everyday lives. Every day we interact with foreign foods, movies that are set in different countries, music that has been influenced from various artists across the world, art from diverse cultures, and we purchase clothes and other goods that have been manufactured from places such as China and Mexico. My life has been defined and shaped by globalization.

Globalization made it possible for people to travel from different countries to spread goods, ideas and religion. I live in this country because of our religion that brought my ancestors from Europe to America. It brings people from all over the world with different cultures, religions, and languages together. It is what brought my part German and part English family together. This is just the beginning of how my life has been personally affected by globalization.

A big part of who I am is what I love to do. Soccer, violin, and piano have always been a big part of my life. If it were not for globalization, such activities may not have been as big of a part or even existed in many countries. Soccer began all the way in Ancient Greece; from there it moved to England and then spread throughout the world. It is now the world’s most popular sport. Soccer has become people’s whole lives because people decided to share their ideas.

Music has also been a big part of my life. Various instruments have been created as people have shared their love of music. Ways of making instruments have been perfected as people work together to make the best possible sound. The violin and piano have been created through a long process of over hundreds of years. They have now become the beautiful instruments I enjoy playing. Composers are influenced by previous composers and so on. Today, composers use each other’s techniques and sounds to make even more wonderful pieces.

Globalization has personally affected my life in every aspect. From where I come from, the food I eat, the clothes I buy, to the activities I love to do. If it were not for the spreading of ideas, religion, and goods we would not be living the same life we live today. All around us are the products of people throughout the world sharing what they have to offer.
