In my opinion editorial
I would like to address that the junk food we eat can cause harm to us in the
future. You can get junk food at any fast food restaurant and vending machines
and we usually tend to choose junk food because it is easier to reach than
healthy foods. Junk food can cause illnesses if we eat it frequently. Junk food
has I high fat level and high sodium which can cause obesity, diabetes, or even
heart disease. As you can see, my opinion editorial basically answers the following
questions: what exists, what is good, and what should we do?
What exists? In America,
mostly every American consumes junk food or fast food at least once a week and
many consume junk food in a daily basis. According to the weight control information
network, more than two in three adults are overweight and one in three adults
are considered to be obese. Obesity has been growing rapidly for the past few
years. Diabetes is also one of the most common illness seen because of high
levels of sugar. Type two diabetes is caused by high levels of fat and sugar. Your
body tries to produce enough insulin to maintain your body at homeostasis but,
when you are feeding these type of foods in your body often your body is not
able to keep up the insulin production causing diabetes. Junk food or eating at
fast food restaurants can also lead to heart disease. By eating junk food the
fatty acids and triglycerides in your body start clogging your arteries which
can lead to lack of oxygen and heart disease. Junk food also makes you
lethargic and less effective. You feel tired and fatigued due to the lack of
oxygen levels and the high sugar levels you feed your body.
What is good and what
should we do? Trying to live a healthy lifestyle might not be easy for some but
it is possible. Each day we can cut something from our diet. It might be one
less soda, a bag of chips, ice cream, or anything that has simple sugars and
high fats. Living a healthier lifestyle will not only make your body healthier
but it also makes you feel better, you feel more energetic, and you feel
happier. Instead of eating junk food we can switch that to fruits and vegetables.
Even though fruits and vegetables do not seem as appetizing we should try to
stay away from junk food to maintain our bodies healthy.
